Dive Brief:
- Choice Hotels International’s midscale extended stay brand Everhome Suites has expanded to the East Coast with an opening in Newnan, Georgia, the hotel company announced Thursday.
- The 115-room Everhome Suites Newnan is located on a dual-site property alongside Choice’s economy extended stay brand WoodSpring Suites, marking the first side-by-side location for two of Choice Hotels’ four extended stay brands, the company said.
- The opening is part of Choice’s larger expansion of the Everhome Suites brand and in the extended stay space more generally. Choice broke ground on six Everhome locations at the start of February, and there are dozens more in the brand’s pipeline.
Dive Insight:
Choice’s strategic expansion of Everhome Suites comes as “the current demand for purpose-built extended stay products is twice the supply, and the category continues to garner attention as one of the hottest in the hospitality industry,” the company said in a Thursday release.
Choice’s strategy for the brand includes building additional dual-site properties — six shared site projects are planned across the country — following increased interest by developers, Matt McElhare, vice president for extended stay brands at Choice Hotels, noted in the release.
“Our developers are recognizing the complementary opportunity, pairing Everhome and WoodSpring on a shared site, which enables them to appeal to a wide range of extended stay guests,” McElhare said in a statement.
Choice expects guest demand for Everhome to come from a higher portion of discretionary leisure travelers, traveling healthcare workers, hospital patients and IT and skilled workers, who prefer higher-end amenities, the company said.
On the flip side, guest demand for WoodSpring Suites will continue to come from blue-collar business travelers such as construction workers, Choice forecasts.
Over the last year, Choice has expanded both the WoodSpring Suites and Everhome Suites brands as demand for extended stay has increased.
Last month alone, Choice broke ground on six Everhome Suites properties across Texas and Arizona. And in November, the hotel company broke ground on three Everhome hotels and announced six more in various stages of development across Southern California.
At the end of 2023, there were 66 hotels in the brand’s pipeline, according to Choice.
