Maryland-based real estate developer the Cordish Companies broke ground Friday on the $270 million Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana, Cordish announced.
When it opens in 2025, the development will be the first land-based casino in Louisiana’s Shreveport-Bossier market.
Live! Casino & Hotel will feature an upscale 550-room hotel, including a pool and fitness center. It will also offer more than 47,000 square feet of gaming space, a 25,000-square-foot event center for entertainment and meetings and 30,000 square feet of food and beverage outlets. Those outlets include national chains Sports & Social and PBR Cowboy Bar.
Cordish Companies anticipates that Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana will generate $35 million in gaming tax revenues for the city of Bossier and more than $168 million for the state of Louisiana within the property’s first five years of operation.
Cordish Companies is expanding across the South, with construction underway on projects in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas. The company is currently developing a Texas Live! in North Texas, and opened a Nashville Live! in October.
Last month, Pennsylvania-based developer Penn Entertainment also broke ground on a casino hotel, the Hollywood Casino Columbus in Columbus, Ohio.
