Chicago-based hospitality company Dream Golf announced plans to open a “world-class destination golf resort” in East Texas on Tuesday.
The 2,400-acre property, dubbed Wild Spring Dunes, will be situated 20 miles north of Nacogdoches, Texas.
Michael and Chris Keiser, who own Dream Golf’s Sand Valley Resort in Nekoosa, Wisconsin, will develop the Wild Spring Dunes resort, which is expected to open in 2026.
When completed, the resort will feature accommodations, home sites and dining, in addition to golf courses and a practice center. Tom Doak, a renowned course architect, will design one golf course, with design duo Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw planning another.
The resort will be located two hours by car from both Dallas and Houston and surrounded by national forests. The closest airport, Shreveport Regional Airport, is 73 miles away.
"It's just a wonderful coincidence that this site is accessible to so many people," Michael Keiser said in a statement. "The reason we're doing it is because of the quality of the site. If it were 10 hours, 15 hours from Dallas or Houston, we'd still be doing it because the site is just that good."
The land offers 120 feet of elevation change and varied topography and ecosystems, including hardwood forest, grassy meadows and steep ravines carved by spring-fed creeks, according to Dream Golf.
Dream Golf, the hospitality company developed by the Keiser family, is also working on a golf resort in Colorado called Rodeo Dunes.
The group’s properties also include Oregon’s Bandon Dunes, which has numerous United States Golf Association amateur championships.
