Fontainebleau Las Vegas held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday, marking the official opening of the long-awaited resort and casino complex.
Though the property was originally conceived in the early 2000s, construction kicked into high gear after Fontainebleau Development and Koch Real Estate Investments partnered to reacquire the property in 2021.
Perhaps alluding to the years that the project has been in progress, Fontainebleau Development Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Soffer called the resort “a symbol of perseverance.”
The ribbon-cutting event on Thursday followed a star-studded VIP opening party the night before that featured surprise performances by pop star Justin Timberlake and country singer Keith Urban.
Stars in attendance included Cher, Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Lenny Kravitz, Jessica Biel, Axel Rose, Sylvester Stallone and Tommy Hilfiger.
The 67-story luxury resort includes 3,644 rooms and suites, 550,000 square feet of meetings and convention space and 150,000 square feet of gaming space. It also features a 96,500-square-foot luxury retail district and a 6-acre pool area. In total, the property spans 25 acres on the northern end of the Las Vegas Strip.
The resort previously announced details about its food and beverage offerings and spa in September. Its restaurant concepts will open individually, starting this month and through 2024.
Fontainebleau Las Vegas’ opening is just one of several happenings anticipated to bring an influx of visitors to Las Vegas in recent and coming months.
Financing woes, however, are stalling construction funding for other ambitious projects along the Strip.
