Dive Insight:
Atlanta is in the midst of a hotel development boom. In the fourth quarter of 2023, the city ranked second worldwide for largest hotel construction pipeline, according to Lodging Econometrics.
And though hotel projects span segments, Mark Vaughan, executive vice president and chief sales officer of the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, previously told Hotel Dive that newly opened boutique and lifestyle hotels are the ones “really shaking up Atlanta’s scene.”
“The character of a community is often driven by the boutique lifestyle hotels, and 15, 20 years ago, we were very under indexed on that, and now we’re doing very well,” he said in December.
A project by Atlanta real estate development firm New City Properties, Forth Atlanta will be managed by Philadelphia hospitality management and design company Method Co. Morris Adjmi Architects, a New York City-based architectural firm, led the design.
Randall Cook, Method’s CEO and co-founder, called Forth Atlanta “our most ambitious and innovative project to date.”
The hotel will feature floor-to-ceiling windows that offer views of the city skyline, an elevated 2,300-square-foot outdoor pool deck, a spa, a lobby lounge with a co-working space and a members-only club inclusive of its own fitness and wellness center. Interiors will draw inspiration from “contemporary European design and early Americana traditions” with wooden furniture, vintage pieces, layered fabrics and curated objects.
The hotel's 39 apartment-style accommodations will include full-size appliances, separate living spaces, oak floors and custom furniture.
Philadelphia-based firm Stokes Architecture + Design worked with Method on the design of food and beverage concepts, which include a lobby cafe and bar, a rooftop cocktail lounge, an Italian steakhouse and a Mediterranean-inspired poolside restaurant and bar.
Forth Atlanta is one of three buildings New City is developing at its 11-acre property in the Old Fourth Ward, two blocks south of Ponce City Market.
Last month, general contractor Swinerton also announced that it was underway on a $30 million boutique hotel in Roswell, Georgia, an Atlanta suburb.
