Dive Insight:
The opening of Grand Hyatt Deer Valley comes as Hyatt expands its luxury and lifestyle brands to cater to guests seeking accommodations in the burgeoning segment.
Hyatt plans to open more than 10 Grand Hyatt hotels through 2027 in new global markets, aiming to bring “timeless experiences” to guests in “more captivating destinations,” according to Emily Wright, vice president and global brand leader for Grand Hyatt.
Grand Hyatt Deer Valley offers a variety of luxury amenities unique to its Utah destination, like direct access to more than 300 acres of ski terrain at Deer Valley Resort. The property also offers several culinary outlets, including an après-ski bar and grill, a signature bar and restaurant, a speakeasy-themed bar and a coffee bistro.
The property has one of the largest mountainside event facilities in the U.S., according to Hyatt, offering a total of 30,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, including a 10,000-square-foot ballroom.
The pet-friendly resort also has a dedicated Camp Hyatt Kids Club on-site, with kid-friendly events and activities. Research published earlier this month by hospitality consultancy Wanderland found that kid-friendly hospitality could be a $175 billion opportunity for hotels.
Another growth area for hotels is wellness, with the wellness tourism sector set to reach $1.35 billion by 2028, according to the Global Wellness Institute. A hammam-inspired spa is set to open at Grand Hyatt Deer Valley in 2025, according to Hyatt.
The opening of Grand Hyatt Deer Valley comes on the heels of the $115 million renovation and rebranding of Grand Hyatt Scottsdale earlier this month.
In addition to expanding the Grand Hyatt brand, Hyatt is growing its Thompson Hotels and Andaz brands across the U.S. as part of a larger strategic luxury and lifestyle push. The hotel company also acquired lifestyle hotel operator Standard International in August, assuming its portfolio of 22 open hotels.
