Dive Brief:
- Gravity Haus, an “experiential and adventure-centric” hotel and membership club, announced the newest addition to its portfolio — Gravity Haus Jackson Hole in Jackson, Wyoming. The 87-key boutique hotel offering various outdoor amenities will open following the full renovation and rebranding of The Continuum Hotel, starting in October.
- Jackson Hole is the ninth destination market for the 2019-founded Gravity Haus brand, which aims to provide travelers with a “merging of work, play and outdoor adventures at world-class destinations.” Its other hotels are located in Vail, Breckenridge, Steamboat, Winter Park, Denver and Aspen, Colorado; Truckee, California; and Moab, Utah.
- Gravity Haus expands its market reach at a time when travelers are increasingly seeking outdoor-centric and experiential trips. The brand joins others targeting top U.S. “adventure” destinations, particularly those in ski towns, to meet this growing demand.
Dive Insight:
Upon opening, Gravity Haus Jackson Hole will offer guests co-working and fitness space, dog-friendly accommodations and locally inspired restaurants. The property’s main attraction, though, is its access to year-round outdoor recreation, including skiing and hiking, via Jackson Hole Resort's Aerial Tram, which is steps away from the hotel.
The hotel will offer guests discounted gear rentals, including bikes and camping supplies, which can be secured through a mobile app. The hotel also will have an expert team to help guests find the best-suited adventures for them, including guided excursions.
Jackson Hole was selected as the next destination market for Gravity Haus to enter because it’s one of the “most iconic mountain destinations on the planet,” CEO Jim Deters said in a statement.
“We have known for some time that in order to further our adventurous lifestyle offerings for both our guests and our member network, we needed to have a presence and a place here,” he added. “Gravity Haus Jackson Hole meets the moment, and allows us to offer unprecedented access to the very best outdoor recreation and travel experiences in the region while also creating a place to further our community.”
Gravity Haus joins other hotel brands expanding in major ski destinations, as guests demand more experience-oriented lodging options.
Chicago-based Waterton in recent weeks launched outdoor-centric hotel brand Outbound Hotels and similarly opened a property in Jackson Hole.
Earlier this year, Choice Hotels’ Cambria brand expanded in the Colorado mountains, opening a hotel in Copper Mountain. Margaritaville also is planning its first-ever ski-destination resort in Lake Tahoe.
