The luxury Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts brand will make its Texas debut in Fredericksburg with the Waldorf Astoria Texas Hill Country hotel and residences, parent company Hilton announced Tuesday.
Slated to open in 2027, the property will be located in the state’s Hill Country region, less than two hours from Austin and San Antonio and near more than 100 wineries.
Wine Country Hospitality Partners — a partnership between Auberge Resorts Collection founder Mark Harmon, luxury developer Robert Radovan and advisor Tim Sparapani — will develop the property with Hilton, which will manage the hotel when it opens.
The property will feature 60 hotel rooms and suites, 37 multibedroom villas offering up to 74 more keys and more than 50 residences less than a mile from downtown Fredericksburg.
Design for the resort will be done in partnership with Tuscon, Arizona-based Studio Caban and Texas firms Fab Studio, Tipler Group, Studio Outside and Paul Duesing Partners. Guest rooms will feature “authentically Texan” design elements and sprawling Hill Country views, according to Hilton, while villas will offer private plunge pools, outdoor courtyards and specialty programming.
In a statement, Harmon said the project will “draw upon the unique architecture and history of Fredericksburg to create a new experience that opens this budding wine destination to travelers and future residents.”
When completed, the Waldorf Astoria’s dining options will include one all-day dining restaurant and one specialty restaurant, a bar and lounge, a pool bar and a grab-and-go juice bar.
Further amenities will include more than 11,000 square feet of spa and fitness space, two pools, a kids’ club and 6,000 square feet of indoor meeting space, including a 4,000-square-foot event barn.
The property’s signing marks a “milestone” for Hilton’s “luxury brands portfolio expansion across the Americas,” said Amy King, the company’s vice president of luxury and mixed-use development, in a statement.
Waldorf Astoria currently has more than 30 open properties globally and 30-plus in its pipeline. The brand’s historic New York City hotel will reopen this year following a multiyear revamp.
