Hilton Grand Vacations has promoted CFO Dan Mathewes to president, a role he will hold while continuing his CFO duties, the company said.
The vacation ownership company also named Dusty Tonkin executive vice president, chief sales and marketing.
As president, Mathewes will work more closely with Hilton Grand Vacations’ sales and local marketing functions as he continues to build on his leadership of the company’s finance, accounting development and technology functions.
Mark Wang, the company’s CEO, said the appointment comes at “an exciting time at HGV.”
“We are in the process of integrating our recent acquisition of Bluegreen Vacations, and Dan is central to that effort,” Wang said in a statement. “We are confident that under his expanded role, HGV will achieve significant milestones in market expansion [and] efficiency enhancement while creating exceptional experiences for our members and team members.”
Mathewes joined Hilton Grand Vacations as executive vice president and CFO in 2018. Previously, he held CFO positions at Virgin Hotels and The World, a private yacht with residences, according to his LinkedIn.
Tonkin most recently served as the chief sales and marketing officer of Bluegreen Vacations, which Hilton Grand Vacations acquired in November for $1.5 billion. The acquisition — which adds 14 new markets to Hilton Grand Vacations’ portfolio — was completed in January.
Tonkin has nearly 30 years of experience in the vacation ownership industry. Before his time at Bluegreen Vacations, he was executive vice president of sales and marketing at Wyndham Destinations, where he oversaw teams across six destinations.
In his new role, Tonkin will lead Hilton Grand Vacations’ global sales and marketing to foster growth, enhance operations efficiency and drive the sales strategy of the newly combined company forward.
In a statement, Tonkin said he sees “incredible potential to capitalize on the strengths and talent I’m familiar with from Bluegreen Vacations, as well as enhance the exceptional talent and capabilities present at HGV.”
Headquartered in Orlando, Florida, Hilton Grand Vacations has approximately 700,000 members.
In November, the company opened four floors of penthouses in Las Vegas amid heightened traveler demand for luxury accommodations.
Hilton Grand Vacations also operates extensively on Maui, Hawaii, where last summer’s wildfires continue to impact company performance.
