Hollywood Casino Columbus broke ground on a 180-room hotel at the Ohio casino property, owner Penn Entertainment announced this week.
The hotel has a budget of approximately $100 million, and it will feature meeting space and a restaurant. Penn Entertainment expects to announce further amenities at a later date.
“Since opening in 2012, our Columbus property has experienced tremendous growth,” said Penn Entertainment CEO and President Jay Snowden, in a statement. “The addition of a hotel at Hollywood Casino Columbus will create a true regional destination.”
Last month, Penn Entertainment announced that it was in the midst of several growth projects. In addition to the added Columbus hotel, the company is also relocating two riverboat casinos to land in Aurora and Joliet, Illinois, and building a second hotel tower at M Resort in Henderson, Nevada.
The overall budget for all growth projects is $850 million. Snowden said he expected the developments to generate “strong” free cash flow returns and create long-term value for Penn Entertainment shareholders.
Penn Entertainment currently operates 43 properties in 20 states.
