The U.S. hotel construction pipeline reached new highs in 2024 — every single quarter.
From the first quarter to the fourth, the total pipeline climbed sequentially throughout the year. It rose from a record 6,065 projects in Q1 to a high of 6,378 projects by year-end, according to Lodging Econometrics.
Pushing those pipeline gains were leading segments and markets, including upper-tier chain scales, which dominated the pipeline amid strengthening RevPAR fundamentals. Additionally, Dallas led all U.S. markets for the largest hotel construction pipeline in each quarter of the year.
Hotel renovations and conversions also remained strong throughout 2024 and are anticipated to ramp up in the year ahead, per Lodging Econometrics SVP Bruce Ford.
