Dive Insight:
Hyatt Studios Mobile/Tillmans Corner offers studio apartment-style suites, each with a kitchen including a full-size refrigerator, a dishwasher and cooking tools, Hyatt detailed in a Tuesday release. The rooms also include designated sleeping and lounge areas.
The hotel provides 24-hour amenities, such as a fitness center and a market offering snacks and easy-to-make meals. Additionally, the property has self-service laundry and an outdoor patio with a firepit and grill. Guests can also borrow everyday essentials, from blenders to board games, through an on-property borrowers program. The hotel is slated to offer free fiber internet and EV charging stations as well — a staple of the Hyatt Studios brand, per the company.
Hyatt Studios Mobile/Tillmans Corner was built in collaboration with developer 3H Group, which is underway on additional brand properties in Huntsville, Alabama, and Jacksonville, Florida.
With “a smart, efficient design and a flexible operating model that resonates with both guests and owners,” Hyatt Studios “fills a critical gap in the extended stay space,” 3H Group CEO Hiren Desai said in a statement.
There is enthusiasm among hotel owners and developers for Hyatt Studios, as demand for extended stay accommodations continues to grow, according to Dan Hansen, head of Americas development at Hyatt and global head of Hyatt Studios.
Markets with or near manufacturing plants, universities and medical facilities drive particularly strong extended stay demand, hotel pros previously told Hotel Dive. Mobile has diverse industries in manufacturing, aerospace, maritime and healthcare that make the city an ideal fit for the Hyatt Studios brand, according to Hyatt.
When the brand first launched, there was developer interest for more than 100 Hyatt Studios hotels, according to the company. Hansen previously told Hotel Dive that Hyatt Studios would be located where Hyatt’s presence is limited, including suburban, interstate and small-town markets.
3H Group is also underway on a dual-branded Hyatt property in East Nashville, Tennessee, including a Hyatt Place and a Hyatt House — the hotel company’s other extended stay brand.
Last month, Hyatt launched its first conversion-friendly transient brand in the upper midscale segment in the Americas, Hyatt Select.
