- Hyatt Hotels has selected Oracle’s cloud-based property management system for more than 1,000 hotels and properties across its global hospitality portfolio.
- The properties will migrate from Oracle’s on-premise, self-hosted Opera V5 property management solution to the Oracle Opera Cloud hospitality platform, Cameron Hammond, senior vice president of global field technology services at Hyatt Hotels, said in an email. The system will help to centralize data for hotels to provide better insights and operational planning, Oracle says.
- “This migration to Oracle Opera Cloud will help further empower Hyatt owners and operators with new integration capabilities while simplifying the deployment of new technology solutions [in] an intuitive, next-generation property management system with a user-friendly interface,” Hammond said.

Cloud-based property management solutions are increasingly being deployed for their scalability, ease of use and potential to prevent loss of data in hospitality and other sectors. Hyatt’s decision to migrate its property management operations to a cloud-based platform comes after Hilton last year announced that it would wind down the use of its legacy OnQ PMS at more than 7,000 properties and transition to HotelKey’s cloud-based Property Engagement Platform over three years.
In June 2023, MRI launched MRI Engage @ Work, a cloud portal that commercial tenants can use to communicate with property managers, file maintenance requests, make payments and enter retail sales data. Earlier this year, HelixIntel introduced a computerized maintenance management system that integrates with its existing cloud-based property management platform.
For Hyatt, moving its property management functions to the Oracle Opera Cloud system will give owners, operators and colleagues the tools they need to serve guests, Alex Alt, executive vice president and general manager of Oracle Hospitality and Retail, said in a statement.
In a Sept. 17 news release, Hyatt described the Opera Cloud property management system as a “modern data platform” that provides a common user interface and processes to give Hyatt colleagues the insights to “operate more efficiently and provide an improved, more consistent experience for its guests, members and customers.”
The Opera Cloud property management system is designed for hotels of all sizes, from luxury resorts to limited-service properties, according to Oracle’s website. The system can provide fiscal and legal compliance, and language and currency support across more than 200 countries and territories, Oracle says.
Other benefits include the ability to create unique guest profiles to enable personalized guest experiences and centralized control and continuous update capabilities that allow users to add new properties faster, per a fact sheet from Oracle. Additionally, the Oracle Cloud removes the need for on-premise servers or local maintenance while providing multilayer digital security, Oracle-certified personnel available to resolve IT issues, and a mobile functionality that delivers real-time updates to housekeeping and maintenance staff, according to the fact sheet.
Hyatt will leverage the Oracle Hospitality Integration Platform to enable participating Hyatt properties to customize their operations with access to over 1,000 pre-integrated business and customer services, the hospitality company said. With the OHIP, designed for self-service integrations, users can connect hotel applications with Opera Cloud, centralizing and consolidating processes into a single unified platform, Oracle says.
Other Oracle Hospitality Opera Cloud property management users include BWH Hotel Group, Meliá Hotels International and Outrigger Hospitality Group, Oracle says.
