Dive Insight:
Founded by cattle rancher Ben Carpenter, the suburban Las Colinas planned community was inspired by “European charm,” according to IHG. Hotel Indigo Irving — Las Colinas features an aesthetic inspired by the surrounding neighborhood, which IHG describes as a “juxtaposition of rodeo and renaissance.”
The entry of the hotel includes an “expansive” ceramic mockingbird installation as well as a front desk made from more than 150 hand-woven tiles. Guest rooms include woven headboards and knotted rugs meant to evoke “textiles Carpenter encountered during his travels.”
The hotel includes a modern Mediterranean restaurant and bar, Kleo. It also offers an outdoor swimming pool and bar overlooking the nearby Mandalay Canal, a fitness center and 5,400 square feet of meetings and events space.
With the opening, IHG continues to expand in Texas. Earlier this year, the company opened InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk after a $158 million redevelopment, as well as Kimpton Santo, also in San Antonio.
Hotel Indigo is part of IHG’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio, which the company has been expanding across the U.S. The push includes several planned U.S. locations for the company’s wellness resort brand, Six Senses, as well as multiple Kimpton properties under development.
The company’s luxury InterContinental brand is also underway on a 700-room hotel in Orlando, Florida, slated to open in 2028.
