A $550 million full-service meetings, events and resort destination opened in Arlington, Texas, as group travel demand ramps up across the country.
Loews Hotels & Co., a wholly owned subsidiary of Loews Corporation, unveiled Tuesday the 21-story Loews Arlington Hotel and Convention Center, featuring 888 guest rooms and luxury suites.
The property is connected to the Arlington Convention Center, also operated by Loews Hotels, and the existing 300-room Live! By Loews hotel. Collectively, the properties — deemed “the Loews complex” by the company — will offer 1,188 rooms and nearly 300,000 square feet of meetings and events space.
According to Loews, the property “caters to groups of all sizes,” with spaces like an expansive event lawn and what the company claims is the largest hotel ballroom in North Texas, spanning 51,000 square feet.
Located between Globe Life Field, home of the Texas Rangers, and AT&T Stadium, home to the Dallas Cowboys, Loews anticipates capturing stays from entertainment and sports tourists.
“This opening marks a new day for the meetings and events business in North Texas,” said Loews Hotels President and CEO Alex Tisch. “We anticipate to fill the hotel with sports enthusiasts and entertainment fans during game days and concerts, and the rest of the time, with corporations, associations and incentive groups, who will enjoy some of the best meeting space in America.”
Group business travel has ramped up across the country in recent months and driven increased hotel profits in markets including in the surrounding Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.
Loews Arlington Hotel and Convention Center is poised to accommodate increased group demand in the market, according to Arlington Mayor Jim Ross, who said the property “gives Arlington a competitive edge over other major event and convention centers across the country.”
Beyond group business, the property will meet a growing demand for experiential travel by leisure tourists. Amenities at the property include five new restaurants, a full-service spa and salon and a resort-style beach club with two pools, cabanas, fire pits, a water slide and a man-made sandy beach.
