Hong Kong-based luxury hospitality company Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group appointed Tiffany Cooper as head of development for the Americas region.
Cooper joins Mandarin Oriental with more than 30 years of industry experience in sales, marketing, operations and development. She most recently served as chief development officer for the Americas and Caribbean at Aimbridge Hospitality, where she led the development team’s growth initiatives across the region.
Prior to her stint at Aimbridge, Cooper served as head of development at Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, according to her LinkedIn profile. She has also held leadership roles at Marriott International and Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
In her new role, Cooper will lead Mandarin Oriental’s development and investment initiatives for the Americas region, including focusing on growth across the U.S., according to the company.
“We are thrilled to welcome Tiffany to Mandarin Oriental,” said Mandarin Oriental Chief Development Officer Francesco Cefalu, in a Monday statement. “Her deep expertise and strategic approach perfectly complement our dedication to developing exceptional experiences. We are confident that Tiffany’s leadership will be a valuable asset as we drive our brand’s expansion throughout the Americas.”
The company is “deeply committed to expanding [its] presence in North America, with a particular focus on the United States,” across both its hotels and branded residences, Cefalu said in a statement earlier this month.
A Mandarin Oriental spokesperson told Hotel Dive Monday that the company’s North American growth strategy “is a key part of our objective to double our portfolio within the next 10 years,” with Cooper’s appointment set to “drive this vision forward.”
Mandarin Oriental currently operates 41 hotels, 12 residences and 24 exclusive homes across 26 countries and territories, and has a pipeline of projects under development, according to the company’s website.
In the U.S., specifically, Mandarin Oriental grew its management portfolio last year, announcing it would operate a new hotel and residence project on Brickell Key in Miami.
Cooper’s appointment comes just weeks after Mandarin Oriental named Amanda Hyndman chief operating officer. She took over for Christoph Mares following his retirement and continues to hold her role as chief people and culture officer.
