AC Hotel by Marriott Savannah Historic District opened in Savannah, Georgia, Atlanta-based development and operations firm North Point Hospitality announced Thursday.
The 170-room new-build hotel is the first under the AC Hotel by Marriott brand in Savannah, and its opening demonstrates North Point’s “continued focus on brand defining hotels in premium markets and locations,” President and CEO S. Jay Patel said in a statement.
The firm has developed 30 hotels from the ground up and has an additional six properties in the works at a total project development cost of over $360 million.
The riverfront AC Hotel by Marriott Savannah Historic District on East River Street features a rooftop restaurant and bar, the Mediterranean-inspired Lavender Rooftop Kitchen & Bar, as well as more than 4,000 square feet of meeting space and a dedicated events team, according to North Point.
“Modern” guest rooms include private balconies with views of the Savannah River and spacious workspaces.
“With Savannah’s growing popularity as a destination for both leisure and business travelers, we’re excited to offer a fresh, modern experience that still feels connected to Savannah’s rich past,” Whip Triplett, North Point’s chief operating officer, said in a statement.
Recent hotel developments in Savannah include Death & Co’s cocktail-anchored lifestyle brand, Midnight Auteur, which will open this year.
Earlier this year, Marriott opened an apartment-style hospitality property, The Ann Savannah, and next year, the company’s luxury Ritz-Carlton brand is slated to open a property in the market.
Hilton and Choice Hotels International are also expanding in the market, opening hotels under their Curio Collection and Cambria lifestyle brands, respectively.
