Marriott International’s Moxy Hotels brand is expanding to Boulder, Colorado, and St. Petersburg, Florida, this summer, according to announcements from Marriott.
Fort Lauderdale-based firms PTM Partners and DoveHill Capital Management are developing Moxy St. Pete, which was designed by Storyn Studio for Architecture and will be managed by Wurzak Hotel Group.
The 163-room hotel, located on Central Avenue in the city’s artsy EDGE District, aims to be a “new social hub” for St. Pete. The property will feature a lobby with indoor and outdoor spaces, an open-air bar and cafe, work areas and a rooftop pool deck with a poolside bar.
The hotel will also be home to the second location of Sparrow, a rooftop dining and nightlife outlet that first opened in Fort Lauderdale.
Meanwhile, Chattanooga, Tennessee-based Vision Hospitality Group will manage the 189-room Moxy Boulder, located directly across from the University of Colorado. The property will include over 5,300 square feet of indoor and outdoor events space, a fitness center and an “active” lobby featuring the brand’s signature Moxy Bar and lounge, where hotel guests can receive a “Got Moxy” cocktail or mocktail at check-in.
Moxy Boulder will also feature a walk-through courtyard with public access, including 10,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Latin restaurant Mister Oso and Aviana Coffee will anchor the hotel.
There are more than 70 Moxy Hotels open across North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific. The lifestyle hotels offer social public spaces and “small but smart” bedrooms, according to Marriott.
Marriott is actively expanding the brand, which debuted in Houston in the U.S., and also in Thailand, Malaysia and India this year.
