Dive Brief:
- The 128-key Park City Peaks Hotel in Park City, Utah, will join Marriott International’s boutique Tribute Portfolio collection after a $21 million renovation, Marriott announced Monday.
- Lodging Dynamics, the property’s management company, plans to complete the revamp in October, at which time the property will be rebranded to Hotel Thaynes, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel.
- Hotel Thaynes’ conversion is one of several hotel projects announced in the Utah ski destination in recent months, including the forthcoming Hilton and Four Seasons properties at Park City’s Deer Valley Resort.
Dive Insight:
Hotel Thaynes is located minutes from Park City Mountain Resort and Deer Valley Resort and has shuttle service to ski slopes and Park City shopping and dining, according to Marriott.
Its renovation will add “warm and electric design,” including bold colors and art installations, to common areas and guest rooms. The revamp will also add balconies, spa-inspired bathrooms with walk-in showers and dedicated ski storage areas to select rooms.
The property’s on-site restaurant, Versante Hearth + Bar, will remain, featuring an updated design. Hotel Thaynes will also offer indoor and outdoor pools, an expanded sauna, a fitness center, fire pits and an outdoor barbecue area. The property will remain open throughout the renovation.
Park City’s Deer Valley Resort, in particular, has seen heightened hotel development activity in recent months.
In December, Four Seasons announced a partnership with national real estate developer Extell Development Co. to bring a hotel and residents to Deer Valley East Village, the first luxury alpine village to be developed in North America in more than 40 years, according to Four Seasons. Also at Deer Valley East Village, Hilton announced a new-build Canopy by Hilton in collaboration with Extell in March, and Hyatt Hotels opened a 436-key Grand Hyatt resort in November.
Elsewhere in Park City, the 100-room AC Hotel by Marriott was acquired by Atlanta-based investment management firm Peachtree Group in September.
Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio currently comprises more than 150 hotels worldwide, according to the announcement.
