Dive Insight:
StudioRes Moses Lake will offer guest rooms with flexible shower or shower/tub options; fully equipped kitchens with a refrigerator, sink, cooktop and optional microwave and dishwasher; and open shelving for storage. The rooms will also include an open closet concept and the brand’s signature “mudroom” area, according to Hotel Equities.
Catering to both business and leisure traveler demands, the hotel will offer a fitness center, laundry facilities, a communal table to gather and socialize, a covered patio and a vending area with food items and other essentials.
“This new brand is a perfect fit for the growing demand in the midscale extended stay market, and we are confident that it will be well received by guests,” The Hotel Group CEO Doug Dreher said in a statement.
The StudioRes hotel is one of many in the brand’s pipeline. During a February earnings call, Marriott CEO Anthony Capuano said more than 300 potential StudioRes deals were under discussion in around 150 U.S. markets.
Concord Hospitality and real estate private equity company Whitman Peterson broke ground on the inaugural StudioRes hotel in January in Fort Myers, Florida. At the time, Concord said it expected to build around 50 StudioRes hotels across several dozen submarkets in major U.S. cities.
Marriott is among several of its peers expanding in extended stay, as the product type continues to dominate the U.S. hotel construction pipeline.
Hilton is building its LivSmart Studios brand. Choice Hotels International, meanwhile, is actively growing its Everhome Suites portfolio. And Wyndham Hotels & Resorts opened the first and second locations of its Echo Suites brand this summer in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Plano, Texas, respectively.
The construction of StudioRes Moses Lake is set to begin early next year, with an anticipated opening in spring 2026.
