Marriott International’s luxury Westin brand unveiled a renamed and renovated hotel in Sacramento, California, following a multimillion-dollar makeover that touched the property’s guest rooms, lobby and amenity spaces.
The Westin Sacramento Riverfront Hotel & Spa now offers amenities and 101 guest rooms and suites that were redesigned to “emulate a feeling of relaxation and well-being,” according to Marriott.
Redesigned by California-based hospitality design studio Wilson Ishihara Design, the rooms include updated bathroom features like marble counters, spacious claw-foot bathtubs, separate showers and bath amenities from Westin’s White Tea collection. The guest rooms also include Westin’s Heavenly Bed plush top mattresses, aimed to provide “restorative sleep” for guests, according to Marriott.
Wellness is “at the forefront of the Westin guest experience,” according to Marriott. At the Sacramento property, this carries through to the amenities, including the Spa La Lé, a revamped fitness center, a heated outdoor pool and whirlpool and bicycle rentals to ride along the Sacramento River.
The hotel also provides guests with complimentary, reusable water bottles upon check-in, which can be refilled at the Westin Well water station in the lobby. Water refilling stations have recently gained traction across the hotel industry.
The Westin Sacramento Riverfront Hotel & Spa is home to restaurant Scott’s Seafood and has nearly 8,000 square feet of event space. In the early months of 2025, the property will also debut a private marina for guest events.
The hotel is owned by New York- and London-based Monarch Alternative Capital and operated by HHM Hotels, which operates some 240 hotels across the U.S. and Canada under brands by Marriott, Hilton and Hyatt Hotels.
Across the Westin portfolio, The Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Kāʻanapali unveiled a $160 million renovation last year. The brand also opened a convention hotel in Atlanta in 2024.
