Le Merigot Santa Monica and hospitality union Unite Here Local 11 reached a tentative agreement on a new contract, ending a monthslong strike at the property, the union shared.
Le Merigot is the latest hotel to reach an agreement in Southern California, where Unite Here has been staging multistage strikes since July. Loews Hollywood, Laguna Cliffs Marriott and Biltmore Los Angeles reached deals last month.
Westin Bonaventure reached a deal in June, avoiding walkouts entirely.
According to Unite Here, the tentative contract at Le Merigot includes “unprecedented” wage increases, affordable healthcare, safer workloads, pension increases and equal justice language intended to provide access to union jobs for formerly incarcerated workers.
“We value our staff tremendously, which this agreement reflects,” said Jessica Rincon, Le Merigot’s general manager, in a statement. “We look forward to providing the level of service that our discerning clientele expects.”
Unite Here and affiliated hospitality unions have scored several similar wins in the past month.
Last week, Unite Here casino workers in Detroit reached an agreement with their resort employers for an immediate 18% pay increase, ending strikes that began in October.
And in Las Vegas, the Unite Here-affiliated Culinary and Bartenders Union avoided strikes by reaching eleventh-hour deals with Wynn Resorts, MGM Resorts International and Caesars Entertainment.
