Dive Insight:
As of the third quarter of last year, Atlanta’s hotel construction pipeline was the second-largest in the U.S., according to Lodging Econometrics.
Rooms at Signia by Hilton Atlanta played a major role. Multiple experts told Hotel Dive in November that the hotel’s size and location near event venues means it will likely capture a great deal of travelers in town for meetings and conventions, a key driver of Atlanta’s hotel occupancy.
The hotel is owned by the Georgia World Congress Center Authority. Adjacent to the GWWC, the hotel is also within steps of Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Centennial Olympic Park.
"Signia by Hilton Atlanta complements our vision for a compact and connected campus featuring a package of facilities unrivaled in any city in the United States," said Frank Poe, executive director of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority.
San Francisco-based architectural services company Gensler led architecture and interior design. Boston’s Drew Company developed the hotel.
At 42 stories, the property is the tallest building on Atlanta’s west side.
Built on the foundation of what was once the Georgia Dome, Signia by Hilton Atlanta features eight food and beverage outlets, a spa, a rooftop pool and fitness center, more than 100,000 square feet of meetings and event space, an outdoor deck and lawn and a Club Signia lounge with all-day food and beverage offerings.
Guest rooms at Signia by Hilton Atlanta feature floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramic views. 70 rooms are suites, and 80 are Club Signia rooms offering lounge access.
The Signia by Hilton brand is also operating in San Jose, California, and Orlando, Florida. Signia by Hilton Atlanta, however, is the brand’s first ground-up build.
Last month, the brand announced plans to open another convention hotel in Indianapolis in 2026.
