Dive Brief:
- Marriott International has partnered with digital technology platform Toast to make its Toast for Hotel Restaurants software available in its select service hotels in the U.S. and Canada, according to a Monday announcement.
- Marriott’s select service brands include Courtyard by Marriott, Four Points by Sheraton, SpringHill Suites, Protea Hotels and Fairfield Inn and Suites. Toast for Hotel Restaurants, launched in May of last year, is designed to help hotel operators drive revenue, increase efficiency and serve guests faster.
- Marriott is the largest organization to date that has approved Toast for Hotel Restaurants at its properties, a Toast spokesperson told Hotel Dive. The technology facilitates charging bills to guests’ rooms from across hotels’ restaurants, room service options, bars, event venues and poolside dining.
Dive Insight:
Toast for Hotel Restaurants offers a cloud-based food service POS platform with speed screens designed for faster order taking and an integrated kitchen display system intended to streamline back-of-house operations. The company also offers handheld POS devices for staff and self-service Toast Kiosks where guests can order on their own.
“Forward-thinking hotel companies like Marriott want a curated food and beverage experience to be innovative, fully integrated with hotel operations, and easy to adopt for franchisees—while maintaining efficiency and scalability across brands and geographies,” said Aman Narang, Toast’s co-founder and COO, in the announcement.
The move comes on the heels of Toast’s partnership with FreedomPay, Payments Dive reports. FreedomPay integrated with Marriott’s U.S. and Canada properties in 2019.
A Marriott spokesperson told Hotel Dive, “We are excited to make Toast’s technology available for our select service hotels in the U.S. and Canada to enhance their food and beverage operations and better serve our guests.” Marriott did not respond to Hotel Dive’s questions about when the technology would be available for hotel managers and restaurant operators.
Outside of Marriott, Toast for Hotel Restaurants is operational in New York City’s Wythe Hotel and The Godfrey Hotel in Boston, operated by COJE Hospitality.
