Despite economic uncertainty, hotel companies’ pipelines remain robust, with the number of projects under development hitting a record level at the end of 2024.
Across segments, operators opened several major hotels in the first quarter of 2025. Top openings included the debut of Marriott International’s first City Express property in Georgia. Apartment-style accommodations providers were particularly busy in the quarter, with Reside, Placemakr and Mint House all launching hotels.
Boutique properties launched in Q1 included Argentinian restaurateur Adolfo Suaya’s first U.S. hotel, as well as multiple outdoor-focused concepts, as demand for nature-centric stays continues to rise. In the luxury space, the InterContinental Indianapolis marked a significant opening, with the IHG Hotels & Resorts brand making its Indiana debut following a $120 million conversion project.
