Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Chief Information Officer Scott Strickland is hopping C-Suite seats to become chief commercial officer.
Wyndham appointed company veteran Strickland to the newly created CCO role Tuesday. He will report directly to President and CEO Geoff Ballotti.
Strickland has been at Wyndham seven years, most recently as chief information officer, in which he managed and deployed Wyndham’s $275 million investment in technology, digital and franchisee opt-in services, Ballotti shared in a statement.
Before joining the hotel company, Strickland worked in private equity, heading the information systems, e-commerce and business transformation teams at companies like D+M Holdings, Nissan and Black & Decker.
In his new role, Strickland is tasked with enhancing and implementing Wyndham's technology and distribution strategy as well as overseeing global sales, revenue generation, marketing, communications and the Wyndham Rewards loyalty program.
According to Ballotti, Strickland and an expanded team will accomplish this oversight “through a newly combined, tech-forward commercial organization.”
“Combining this group of cross-functional leaders enables us to continue delivering owner-first tools, technology and marketing innovations,” Strickland said in a statement. “These tools allow our franchisees to run their hotels more efficiently and profitably today and into the future. Integrating best-in-class technology, marketing, and sales teams into a single organization enhances the Wyndham Advantage.”
The creation of this inner-company organization sees the departure of Lisa Checchio, EVP and chief marketing officer.
During her tenure, Checchio “played a large role” in the introduction of new hotel brands, grew Wyndham Rewards and led the creation of the Women Own the Room program, the company said.
Wyndham could not be reached for additional comment on the executive changes.
